The ridge's hostel, Uvboet is located exactly as the name says on a ridge in beautiful Dalarna. The surroundings are forest and river. The area provides a fantastic rest for spirit, body and soul. The nearest community is Älvdalen about 15 km south.

The hostel has a hockey rink in winter and a heated 25 meter pool with kiosk in summer. In the area there is also a gymnasium, sauna, playground and a simpler gym. Around the knot is an electric light trail with wonderful cross-country skiing. The area has good snowmobile trails, hiking trails, bike paths and great fishing. In the village there is also a bakery that can be rented for baking, a homestead and many nice villagers! Älvdalen is the closest community to Åsen, 15 km south with grocery store, restaurant, pizzeria, gas station, bathhouse, and more.

Downhill skiing is available in Sälen about 7 miles away or in Idre 10 miles away. The closest downhill skiing is in Gopshu's slalom slope, approximately 3,7 kilometers from Åsen's hostel. Åsen as a village has about 200 inhabitants. Here are some of the strawberry places in the village:
• Knutstugan Åsen's first shooting station dating from the 1700th century. It stands today by the chapel. Upstairs there is a considerable collection of museum objects that can be displayed to order.
Åsens Kapell, formerly called the church cottage, was built by the villagers in 1729 and has also been used as a school hall. Åsen got its first priest in 1916, before that they only had services three times a year. The altarpiece is from Evertsberg's chapel and was renovated in 2000. The chapel is popular to rent for the small wedding.
• Gessi summer cottages Åsen changed Gessi summer cottages from Kalser during the big shift in 1880. During the late 1800s, the northern and southern cottages were built. The shack is still used today and here are cows, sheep, goats, reindeer and more. Open to visitors during the season.
• Stortjänsåsen / Lausås a perfect excursion destination for the whole family, about 10 km northwest of Åsen. From the newly renovated fire tower you have a beautiful view of the countryside. Excellent hiking trails lead up to the top of the mountain. During the 1930s, people competed in downhill races here.
• Gambbodarna According to the summer pasture inventory from 1664 in Älvdalen, various bay pups were recorded, including Åsfjärdingen, which among other things contained "Blickabodher", which was later named "Gambbodarna" - home shack to Åsen. There is a grounding hole, through which children would be pulled, so that they would be protected from dangers and accidents during their stay in the summer pasture. Here is the summer pasture trail from Åsen, 6 km. There is also an old summer pasture path from this place to the castle, 8 km.
• The Place of Prayer / Preaching Place The place where the Baptists preached in persecution. More than 100 years ago, religious freedom did not exist in Sweden, which explains why they chose a hidden place for their meetings. • The old ferry was a rope ferry that was operated by hand by pulling the ferry with a lever along the wire that was stretched across the river. The ferry is still stored in the ferry house at Åsenbron's Norra stronghold.
